Think together with disaster prevention - "Mottainai" of food stock

With the cooperation of many, distribution at the hydrogen information center "Tokyo Suiso-miru (Tokyo Hydrogen Museum)" has ended. Distribution at Tachikawa District Disaster Prevention Center is also expected to end today.

Tokyo Metropolitan Government is working on reducing "food loss" where edible food is disposed of unnecessarily. In order for the importance of disaster prevention stockpiling to be recognized and to create an opportunity to arouse awareness of the importance of food, Tokyo Metropolitan Governments food stock (about 130,000 meals of Japanese hardtack) for stranded persons with the expiry date of January next year will be distributed as follows.

1 Distribution method

We will distribute it to those who can come and receive them. However, it is limited to those who will use the items for noncommercial purposes.

  • Eligible person  Corporations, organizations and individuals in Tokyo (social welfare corporation, NPO, residents' association, etc.)
  • Distribution conditions (all of the following must be satisfied)
    1.  Not to be resold
    2.  Eaten within the expiration date, and not to be discarded
    3.  Taken home by yourself

2 Regarding expiry date

 The Japanese hardtack distributed is a Tokyo Metropolitan Government food stock for stranded persons, that expires at the end of January 2018.
The expiry date is a best-before date, and does not mean it cannot be eaten after that date, but please eat as soon as possible.

3 Other

 Depending on the distribution situation, we will consider distributing them farther at events, etc. Details will be announced through Bureau of Environment website, e-mail newsletter, Facebook, etc.
