Regarding the implementation of FY 2017 joint response training for stranded persons by Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Taito ward

Tokyo Metropolitan Government announces that the joint response training with Taito ward for stranded persons will be held as follows.
In this training, we will provide information to stranded persons using digital signage and guide them from Ueno station area to Ueno Onshi Park, Ueno Onshi Park to temporary shelters, and conduct transportation training for persons requiring special assistance by bus.

1 Training overview

FY 2017 joint response training for stranded persons by Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Taito ward

Objective

Based on the assumption that there are a high number of stranded persons in the Ueno station area due to an earthquake directly hitting Tokyo, the stations, commercial facilities, administrators of public facilities, etc. will collaborate in making an effort to prevent confusion and ensure safety.

02/05/2018 (Monday) 9:00 a.m. to around 1:30 p.m.

2 Main training content

Assumption in training

  • An epicentral earthquake (M 7.3) occurred on the northern part of Tokyo Bay on the scheduled time in the morning
  • Suspension of railway operations caused many stranded persons around the station

Main training content

Decreasing the number of people attempting to return home at the same time

  • Employee's in-facility standby at company
  • Confirmation of safety of employees and their families using disaster message board, etc.
  • Temporary protection of users by station facilities, etc.

Accurate and prompt information provision

Information provision such as evacuation center for stranded persons

Guiding stranded persons

Smooth guidance of stranded persons to temporary shelters

Temporary shelter

Establishment and operation of temporary shelters by companies and local governments

Support returning home

  • Establish support stations for those attempting to return home during a disaster
  • Transport persons requiring special assistance to Saitama prefecture, Chiba prefecture by bus
